Social Skills and Violence Prevention Curricula
Below you can download outlines (called "scope and sequence") of our elementary curricula that address social skill building and violence prevention. Second Step is used throughout our elementary schools and Steps to Respect will be phased in in the 4th grade over the next year. Second Step is taught by the elementary classroom staff and Steps to Respect will be taught by our School Resource Officer, Al St. Onge.
You can also download an informational booklet on the "All-Stars" curriculum which is in place in 7th and 8th grades (CORE). All-Stars Jr. is beginning in our fifth grade this year, replacing the D.A.R.E. program. The All-Stars curriculum is a prevention curriculum that addresses a spectrum of risky behaviors, including substance use and bullying. All-Stars CORE is taught during health classes at the middle school by the health and physical education staff. All-Stars Jr. will be taught by our School Resource Officer, Al St. Onge.
Also in place this year in the sixth grade is Second Step (middle school version) and "Let's Get Real", both taught during study halls by the JFK guidance staff. A scope and sequence for Second Step (middle school version) and an informational sheet on "Let's Get Real" may be downloaded below.
